The editor of Novaya Gazeta, the newspaper where Politkovskaya worked, said "The case has not been solved. We insist that this case is followed through." Muratov accused some officials close to the inquiry of overseeing "information leaks which allowed many people involved in the crime, including the killer, to escape."
